Existence of skincare use: Skin solutions, but pollution for life
Environmental pollution is a change in the environmnet due to human actions or a process of natural selection. Environmental pollution that is no longer the beauty we see, is caused by humans who are not wise enough. For example in Indonesia, the flood in Jakarta that never stops, burning garbage to burning smoke polluting the surrounding air. It is commonplace, but this prolonged impact is very destrimental to humans. Its estimated that there will be around 99 million tones of waste dominated by plastic waste by 2030 if there are no actions to be taken.
According to Wikipedia, plastics are a series of synthetic organic compounds that are easily formed into solid objects. In terms of its history, plastics have evolved three times from natural materials such as chewing gum, chemically modified natural materials such as natural rubber, nitrocellulose, collagen, galalite to finally become synthetic molecules such as bakelite, epoxy, polyvinyl chloride). Do you know? That plastic can be destroyed in + -1000 years. This has a bad impact on the environment because most plastics have a chemical structure that makes them strong for natural processes of degradation.
In developed countries such as the United States, they have a luxurious lifestyle with a small population but consume a lot of natural resources to make ends meet. It is different with developing countries such as Indonesia, natural resources are depleted not because of their lifestyle but because of their very large population. However, our earth has limited natural resources and we cannot even fully recycle it. Based on journals.plos.org that "In low-income developing countries, for example Asian countries, the resulting plastic waste is exacerbated by the distribution of single-use sachet size products directed to low socio-economic communities and low-income families." Apart from being cornered on a small size package, apparently even large size packages are often found.
Plastic pollution has a major impact on the destruction of the environment, divided into 4 :
- Water pollution, Water pollution that often occurs around us is flooding, this is because the waterways are clogged with garbage which is dominated by plastic waste that flows to the sea floor.
- Soil pollution, not a few people still littering, bunning rubbish and dumping the remaining burnt into the ground. This makes soil infiltration no longer optimal because it is obstructed by the plastic waste. In addition, the forest ecosystem is decreasing because it is cut down for the benefit of industrial and property management.
- Pollution of marine ecosystem. In several articles, it is widely stated that in 2050, the sea will be more affected by plastic waste than the animals in the sea. Worse yet, many animals die from consuming this plastic waste. What if the fish you eat are fish that eat microplastics in the ocean.
- Air pollution. A common solution that many people do without paying attention to their surrounding is to burn them, smoke flying through the fresh air and the remaining burns are buried in the ground.
- Turn it into a new place and function, according to your creative ideas.
- Donate to the right waste bank.
- Return the plastic packaging to a certain brand.
Existence of Skincare use: Skin solutions, but pollution for life.
- Reduce which means we have to reduce the use of a product as needed, aka not excessive. For example, using a large amount of shampoo, which allows you to buy new products over and over again until you have plastic shampoo packaging that piles up.
- Reuse means that plastic packaging is not for single use, it must be used and developed into a repetitive function. For example, a perfume spray bottle, if the perfume has run out, it can be converted into a plant spray bottle.
- Recycling means reprocessing the unusable packaging into a new function, for example a body lotion bottle which is converted into an easy, cheap and efficient plant pot.
