This is the way of Millenial Youth: Staying care, although no skincare products

Who does not know the word skin care? Surely, all people know these two words. Skin care is a series of activities that aim to nourish the skin through the use of various beauty products such as: facial cleansers, moisturizers, facial serums, and scrubs. Even though they are beneficial for skin care, the fact is that some of these products contain microbeads which can cause damage to the ecosystem in our environment.

Microbeads

Quoting from journal.sociolla.com, microbeads are “fine grains made of small plastic particles (usually polyethylene) with a diameter of less than 5 mm. This means, the small size of the microbeads is very difficult to filter and makes us unaware of its existence which is one of the ingredients in making skin care such as scrubs or facial cleansers. Even though the size of the microbeads is very small, their impact is quite significant on the environmental ecosystem. Just imagine if this skin care is used by millions of people in Indonesia.

As a result, small particles carried by the water flow when we wash our face will accumulate and become plastic particles in large numbers. This will certainly affect life in an ecosystem. Especially marine and river ecosystems, will receive the impact of plastic waste pollution in the form of microbeads. Why did that happen? This is because the pipes installed in the residents' houses, of course, will flow the waste from household activities to the sea or to the river. As a consequence of biotic and abiotic components will be contaminated. Such as reduced indicators of the cleanliness of sea water and river water, damage to coral reefs, death of mangrove seeds in the oceans, and resulting fish in the waters eating microbeads waste. In fact, the fish in these waters are one of the people's consumption ingredients. In addition, based on data obtained from katadata.co.id, Google has revealed that searches about beauty have increased by 30% in 2019.

These searches include keywords: skin care routines, skin care product reviews, makeup remover, and others related to the care and beauty field. This has proven that the use of skin care products is very popular in order to support an elegant appearance and a face that looks radiant. However, as the younger generation, we must make changes so that in the future, the natural wealth in this country can be passed on to the young generation.

Then how do you preserve the ecosystem around us? Surely, starting from ourselves. Namely, as young people we must cultivate a sense of care. A sense of caring for the environment is one of the real forms of a young man in protecting the universe. That way, God will not be disappointed in entrusting the earth and its contents to be guarded by the khalifatullah fil ardh. Concern for the environment can be started with simple things such as using other alternatives in treating the body. Indonesia has such fertile land, so that a lot of ripe plants on the land. There are fruits, spices, and vegetables that are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and protein to nourish our skin. Surely, as a young man you really want to look fresh and fit both inside and out, right? Let us become millennial youths who replace the use of skin care by using homemade skin care from natural ingredients in the form of fruits, spices and vegetables.

The fruits that will be discussed on this occasion are jicama fruit. You can certainly find this fruit easily. These fruits contain vitamin C as much as 20mg. Vitamin C in jicama is a good and natural antioxidant to prevent dry skin. That means, you can simultaneously moisturize the skin from the use of natural ingredients in the form of jicama fruit. Then, how do you do it? Namely, jicama can be used as a mask without the need for additional ingredients that make us complicated. Surely, millennial youth really like anything that is not complicated. So, do this:

You can grate or blend the jicama. After blending, take the grated jicama fruit then you filter it and take water from the filter because it is the jicama juices that are good for the skin. In addition to vitamin C, in the water of  jicama there is inulin fiber which can reduce cholesterol. We need to remember that this cholesterol can also cause fat accumulation in the skin. If the juices have settled down, then separate the jicama sediment from the water. You can consume the water, and the sediment you can make a mask for your face. This activity certainly won't take a lot of time.

There are still other fruits that can be processed into consumption ingredients that treat the beauty of the skin. Like a smoothie, it is one of those drinks that is smooth in texture and easy to digest. Surely, this smoothie is not only consumed by the younger generation, all people, both the elderly, and children are allowed to consume smoothies. The way to make it is very easy, just by blending fruits such as apples, bananas or strawberries then adding a little honey and ice cubes.

Then, a smoothie full of benefits is ready to be enjoyed. These fruits will not decrease in vitamin levels if we turn them into smoothies. In fact, the nutritional level is the same. However, when the fruit has turned into a smoothie, consume it immediately so that the vitamins and other ingredients in the fruit smoothie do not oxidize. Extremely fun and healthy, right? We process it ourselves and then eat it directly. Likewise with the presence of vegetables, which can be used as the main ingredient to nourish facial skin.

Who would have thought that small carrots actually contain very high vitamin A. We can use grated carrots and then apply it to the facial skin as a natural mask. Let stand for about 10 minutes then wash your face. In addition to its affordable price, vitamin A in carrots is also able to remove dead skin cells on the face. So, there is no doubt that it is not only skincare products that can understand your skin. The existence of plants also really understands your needs. This proves that the existence of humans and environmental ecosystems is mutually helping. Here we can directly feel the symbiosis of mutualism. Which, youth as one of the khalifatullah fil ardh, will protect the existence of the natural environment around him. Meanwhile, the protected universe will provide benefits to support human welfare and survival.

Let's become a millenial youth who implement the concept of replacing skincare product with natural ingredients for the preservation of the environmental ecosystem. So, with the replacing concept, we don't only care about beauty and body health. However, we also pay attention to the health of the environment around us by cultivating a sense of care that exist from within us. So, this is real youth, we are not afraid of changes. Because, change is a good thing. Let us together take care of the environmental ecosystem by slightly reducing the presence of plastic waste.
